I am a CASAW-funded Arabic student based at Edinburgh University with interests in music, Early Islamic History and Persian.

I started this blog before a trip to Egypt where I intended to record ‘music and conversations, but the quality of the music was so poor I abandoned the project very early on. Now I am using this blog to map out my Masters dissertation.  It is of limited use to anyone who isn’t me, but I’d be more than happy to answer comments.
