Some clips of practice yesterday using the Zoom H2 recorder – it was overwhelmed on a couple of occasions (by Leo’s vocals I think) but I am quite happy with the results. Next time I will switch the limiter on and see how well that works.
Slight niggles persist though. The H2 has four microphones so records front and rear sounds in separate files, which then have to be combined and converted into MP3 format to be a little less cumbersome format. Both these things can be done internally, but the combining process itself took three hours for a thirty minute recording. I know from past experience that the conversion to MP3 is also incredibly slow, so I copied the files to my computer in WAV format (took about 7 minutes) and then converted them through Audacity (another seven minutes) which is a lot quicker than it would have been on the recorder. I then realised that you can do the same without copying the files over in the first place.
The tracks are our proposed set for the Edinburgh Bandclash on the 23rd April. We did two run-throughs – the second is divided into two.
Post any advice, and enjoy!
